Supreme Court Considers Lethal Injection I heard, while on the way to work, one early January morning 2008, that the U.S. Supreme court was hearing a case on whether lethal injection, using a three stage method, was cruel and unjust punishment. Here's my opinion: I suggest an EFAE law. Under this provision, after an individual is found guilty of capital murder; a sentencing review begins. The details and method used by the convicted person is carefully assessed. Following a thorough investigation by law enforcement and medical examinations’ on the cause us death; the results are given to a judge and the guilty is given a chance to confirm, deny or correct the findings at the sentencing hearing. This is when the EFAE law is enacted. This law would imposed the exact punishment to the guilty party that they inflicted on the victim. This way, there could never be a claim of cruel and unjust punishment since simple justice will be performed. Obviously, this is done tongue-and-cheek but this Supreme Count case is vanity. It doesn't matter how the
penalty is imposed; just impose it. I don't care is he/she is tickled to death, just as long as justice is
served. Finally; This too shall pass, it is an attempt to eliminate the death penalty. |
