Bill, I've Hated

Whatever happened to hate,
you say it's alive and well,
I speak of righteous disdain
for enemies of Christ who tell:

Lofty lies that self indulge
misleading wayward youth,
blatant pride or ignorance
devoid of Divine truth:

God hates the wicked
and His is not hate speech,
those who are in rebellion
His love can never reach.

Pure Light shines the brightest
in places of deepest dark,
recognition that sin is awful
gives love the needed spark:

Freeing the seeking sinner
rejecting all forms of sin,
hating the person in it
until repentance enters in.

Thinking about this truth
my life I once dictated,
I tremble at the thought
He said, "Bill, I've Hated."

Oh, to hate what You hate Lord
to conform to Your way,
to glorify You and consider
abundant life and eternal day.
